Start your professional Pilates education in smaller, attainable steps. The Pilates School offers multiple introductory certifications each year for prospective teachers who are not yet ready to commit to the Comprehensive Program.
How Certification Works
Begin with three to four days of in-person, hands-on learning with faculty and fellow students.
Complete 24–54 hours of home study and personal practice, including filming and submitting practice for evaluation.
Practice teaching at an approved location with an approved mentor, potentially through The Pilates School.
Certification Standards
Certification is awarded after students complete the required coursework and mentorship, accumulate approximately 24–60 hours of teaching experience, and receive positive evaluations of 85% or higher from both their mentor and The Pilates School SF governance board.

A 16-hour certification focused on learning the complete Pre-Pilates or Basic system repertoire across all medium and heavy Classical Pilates equipment.
