Teacher Certification Application

Requirements to Apply

At The Pilates School we believe you must first learn Pilates in your own body first before you can teach to someone else. As a result we require that all those who wish to apply to meet our minimum qualifications:

• You are ready to commit to the attendance requirements of the program. Attendance requirement is not negotiable and there are monetary consequences for students that accept scholarship funds and are involuntarily withdrawn from the program for poor attendance.
• Your Pilates practice is evaluated in the intermediate levels. Classical Pilates training is preferred but not required.
• You do not suffer from a current injury or chronic condition that prevents you from lifting at least 50lbs. Must be able to perform hands-on and body manipulations on another body safety.
• Have some experience in teaching. Fitness and health field teaching is preferred but not required.

Application Process

1. Submit an application and Pilates resume

Resumes must include:

1. Full Name
2. Address
3. Phone
4. Email
5. A short paragraph 500 words that explain why you want to become a Classical Pilates Teacher.
6. A chronological history of your Pilates training. How trained you, studio names, hours of training.
7. Notable fitness/ health certification/ education
8. Two references that can speak well of your as a teacher.

2. Buy a Teacher Certification Consultation and book your first session

3. Please allow 7-12 business days after you complete your consultation sessions for a final decision.

• Fully Accepted – You have been accepted to the program without any restriction or requirement for additional training, documentation, or paperwork.
• Provisional Acceptance – You will be allowed to start the teacher certification program but you will be given additional requirements for more training, submit additional documentation or paperwork.
• Referred to In-Person Practice or At Home Practice School – applicants that do not have enough Pilates experience to start the teacher certification program that they will not meet the requirement before the start of the semester they wish to join. The applicants will be given an attainable timeline to meet the Pilates experience requirement. Once you meet the requirement of the Teacher Certification program you will be AUTOMATICALLY FULLY ACCEPTED.
• Not Accepted – This is very rare, but we must sometimes deny an application because it is clear the applicant will not be able to adhere to the student code of conduct.

If you are fully or provisionally accepted, you pay the $1000 deposit within 14 days of your acceptance to the program. You will also need to sign any additional paperwork for scholarship, work study, and housing, if needed, before the start date of your assigned cohort.
